Week 1: Getting Settled

Buongiorno tutti! My first week in Italy has been incredible. After some airport stress and a very long travel day, I finally made it to my new home, Castiglion Fiorentino. Over the last week, we have gotten settled in our room, started class, learned to use the train, visited Arezzo and Florence, spoken lots of Italian, and eaten so much delicious food.

I am loving my roommates and constant companions, Lainey and Vaughn. Although we have only been here a week, we have quickly become best friends. We are all very laid back, silly, and wow do we love to eat. So far, we haven't spent more than three hours apart. We'll either love or hate each other by May. Or maybe a little bit of both.

My favorite memory from this week has to be when Vaughn, Lainey, and I took a walk around Old Town Castiglion one night after our cheese tasting activity. The three of us explored the small city's quiet streets and squares under bright blue skies and the orange glow of street lamps. This was our first time really getting to see our new home without the big group. This wonderful place is starting to feel more and more like home.

I am so grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to update you all as the weeks go on. There are many adventures to come! Stay tuned!

A presto!
